Shopify Migration to a Custom Ecommerce Store

A US seller wanted more control over its storefront and lower recurring platform-related costs. DevelopPrism replaced the Shopify storefront with a custom ecommerce website connected to the client’s existing custom CMS.

The migration brief

The client already had a custom content-management system. DevelopPrism’s role was to build the storefront and connect it to that system, not to claim authorship of the existing CMS.

Catalogue and payment implementation

The migrated catalogue contained more than 600 products. The work included payment integrations and automated stock management, with an SEO-friendly storefront.

The payment providers, inventory rules and technical stack are not named because those details are not documented for public use.

Working with the existing operation

The custom storefront used the client’s established CMS rather than requiring a completely new back-office platform. Catalogue migration and inventory handling were part of that connected delivery.

Reported value and limits

The owner reports easier inventory handling and reduced monthly costs, without recorded amounts. No savings percentage, sales uplift or guaranteed retention of search rankings is claimed.

Project scope, not a platform ranking

This case describes one Shopify-to-custom migration. It does not imply that a custom store is the right choice for every retailer; platform selection still depends on catalogue, integrations and ongoing operating responsibilities.
